Science Playgroup: Sound is All Around
Instructor: Wendy
Ages 2-3

Do you like science? Do you like music? Do you like instruments? If you do, then this is the class for you. Work with Boom Whackers and learn the science behind sound. Simply wave them in the air and produce a full octave of eight consecutive notes. Make homemade harmonicas, and see why vibrations are important for sound. The sound they make is really cool. Learn how to transform a paper towel roll into a kazoo, and watch confetti dance to the beat. If you like guitars, I dare you to try and invent the coolest sounding guitar. All this will take place this coming spring. I hope to hear you there!

Monday 10-11:30am
Tuesday 10-11:30am
Thursday 10-11:30am
Friday 10-11:30am

Grossology: An impolite Study
Instructor: Carmelo
Grades K-2

Like it or not, the kids have voted and want to study bodily functions. Snot, flatulence, vomit and more — they just can’t get enough “gross.” Make fake snot and see why this green, nasty substance is out to protect the human body. Dissect an owl pellet, and see how this regurgitated piece of grossness can teach you about food chains, food webs, and predator-prey relationships. Learn how to make and use a stethescope and listen to a heart beat or other body sounds.   Make drinkable blood and learn about its true color and consistency. Yum! Insulate your body with fat and see just how it protects some animals in the artic winter. Study saliva, ear wax, and many other impolite bodily functions this coming fall session.

Monday:  4-5:30pm
Wednesday: 4-5:30pm
Friday:  3:30-5pm
