Blue tongued skinks, corn snakes, turtles, bearded dragons, geckos, and hamsters–and that’s just the first 20 minutes of a Carmelo the Science Fellow birthday party! Kids touch and learn about the animals while Carmelo employs his signature brand of humor and storytelling to make every party attendee comfortable and confident—and buckled over in uproarious laughter. Almost all the kids end up touching the animals (proving that adults are much more scared of snakes than kids are!)
The next phase of a party is a hands-on science project. Sometimes we make glow-in-the-dark silly putty or fake snow; sometimes it’s paper rockets or giant ten-foot-long slime worms. This part is designed to let kids experiment for themselves, giving them the tools and direction to complete a cool project on their own. The best part? The look on their faces when they learn they can take the slime home.
After an hour of crazy-fun science, it’s time to clean up and head to the back room for food and cake. Parents provide snacks, food, drinks, and utensils. Parents often ask us to place a pizza order for them 15 minutes into the party.

We love Carmelo’s Cosmic Cove and everyone who works there! The after school classes are fun and educational and summer camp was a blast for my kids. Carmelo is great with kids and is able to connect with and direct even very young children. We miss you, Carmelo, and your staff!
My 2.5 year old loves it! A kid who would not let his nanny leave the room even for a minute in any of his other classes left her before she had her coat off in just the second class! He looks forward to it every week!
